Here is a pictorial diary of the destruction of the greatest football stand in the world. I hope those repsonsible burn in hell. From the 15th May 2001 to 4th August 2002

I took 2 visits to Villa Park today. One at 7am the other after work at 4pm.

One of the workmen stated that they intended to have the Trinity Road flattened by Tuesday. Wednesday at the latest.

000525_1:

Scaffolding has beed erected at the north end of Trinity Road. i presume that this is to remove the Mosaic. I believe that this one is being saved. That one was chosen becasue it was in better condition.

000525_2:

I don't know if he was a Villa fan but he seemed to think it was a good idea as he reckoned the facilities in the TR were poor and needed to be improved. He stated that the brickwork and concreting were past salvaging, or rather they could have been but it would have cost £10M just to underpin work before building over the top.

000525_3:

I just though I'd show you this piece of the Mosiac that a worker kindly handed to me. It's about 12 inches in length and 8 inches wide.

It really dawned on me today. Villa Park has lost any character that it had. Standing inside the stadium, with half the Trinity Road gone I looked around the empty stadium and saw plastic and concrete. If the seats weren't claret & blue I could have been in any featureless modern stadium in the country.

000525_5:

Do you remember watching matches from Villa Park on the telly and instantly recognising the Trinity Road's blue & claret balcony? The Leitch gable with the lion rampent. It's gone. That character has been ripped from our club.
